Jay: Hey mom, I need you to raise my allowance. What do you say?
嘿,我要妳多給我一些零用錢.可以嗎?
Mom: What? Why do you need more?
什麼?為什麼要多給?
Jay: There's this new MP3 player I need to buy.
我需要買最新的MP3隨身聽
Mom: I don't think you really need it.
我不認為你真的"需要"那種東西
Jay: OK, so I just want it. I'll do more chores if you'll give me a little more each week.
好吧,那我"想要"那東西.如果妳每星期多給我一點錢,我會多做點家事的
Mom: More chores? What about the chores you're already supposed to do? You 
haven't taken out the garbage at all this week.
多做點家事?那你本來就該做的家事呢?你一整個星期都沒到垃圾!
Jay: But I've walked the dog every morning. And I mopped the living room yesterday.
但我每天早上都有去蹓狗啊!而且昨天還拖了客廳的地板
Mom: If you start doing all of your chores, then I'll consider it. Until then, no change.
如果從現在開始,該做的家事你都做了,我會考慮考慮.在那之前一切免談
Jay: [ Complaining ] But MOM!

Mom: Actually, if you have time now, there's some laundry that needs folding.

Jay: But I was just going out to play basketball!

Mom: And there are still some dishes in the sink....
